With the Taipei 101 skyscraper punctuating the incredible skyline, Taipei is truly a unique experience, even for those who are well travelled in Asia.

The city offers a modern transportation system, many shopping centres, night markets, bars and clubs. However, for those more historically inclined the city also boasts many museums based in their historic, temple like halls and palaces.

If there's one thing you can't miss it's the incredibly diverse cuisine - due to it's history Taiwanese food is a unique blend of indigenous Taiwanese, Hoklo, Hakka, Japanese and Chinese elements - all coming together to form their own signature dishes such as "bah-ôan" (肉圓) or "koann-chhâ-páng" (棺材板).
